| Wag Hotels + 7x7 Magazine Event Recap |
|
 |
What a night! I had the best time meeting so many people and their dogs at the Wag Hotels and 7x7 Magazine event benefiting the SF SPCA. We had gorgeous weather, a huge turnout of about 500 people, great music, wine, and lots of adorable dogs, with some dressed up for Halloween!
A big thanks to 7x7 Magazine for inviting me to be their Sweepstakes "prize" for this evening's event, and to Ritu Raj, the visionary of Wag Hotels, for all the wonderful opportunities I've been given. Also, thanks to all the folks who attended the event and stopped by to say hello and check out my dog portraits!
Also, for those who were inquiring about the 7x7sf.com Pet Photo Sweepstakes, you can vote for your favorite dog by clicking here to see all the photos of the dogs taken at the event. The link is not active yet, but will be in the next few days. Be sure to check back as the winner will be announced soon! |

| Gene LOVES Boston Terriers, so I had to be sure to get a shot of one of these adorable dogs for him... |

| Here's Ryan and Terri on the right hand side... I had met them this past July when I photographed Ryan's sister, Jennifer's wedding in Maui. Great to see you guys! |

I'm very pleased to share that Gene Higa and I, for the first time ever, are being recognized as "Contributing Photographers" to Destination Weddings & Honeymoons magazine! Also, equally as exciting for us is that three of our clients' weddings are featured in the Winter 2007 issue of the magazine. We are beyond thrilled to see our work published for the 13th or 14th consecutive issue (we've lost count!) of this magazine! Congrats to all our clients whose images are featured!
Also, a note to Gene... I absolutely love shooting with you and I'm so thankful for you being in my life.
Here's the photo of Gene and I, taken in Las Vegas this past March after one too many... ;)
Underneath our photo it reads:
Ann Hamilton + Gene Higa
After meeting at a photography workshop six years ago, Ann Hamilton and Gene Higa became instant friends. They shot their first destination wedding together in Spain, and since then they've been documenting weddings as a team.
Higa's approach to photography is simple: "Dare to be different," he says. "Ann always tells people that booking me is like jumping out of a plane -- a real adrenaline rush. I deliver an experience , creating artistic and elegant images."
Hamilton says she wants the photos to tell a story. "As a sensitive soul, I'm very in tune to the emotions of the day and I try to anticipate moments between people so I can record them."
The two philosophies work together flawlessly. Hamilton says, "There is no other photographer whom I feel more in sync with." The proof is in the pictures. |

Speaking of Jules Bianchi, I had the opportunity to shoot with Jules and her sister, Joy, this past Sunday. Jules was in town and since I had the day off, she asked if I would like to tag along with her at a beautiful wedding she was photographing at The Carneros Inn in Napa. I also had the pleasure of working again with my friend, the wonderful Ron Dawson of Cinematic Studios. If you don't know, Ron produced awesome promo videos for both Jules and my studio partner, Gene Higa.
You can check Jules' blog for more photos of the wedding!

Today I had the pleasure of meeting and photographing for the very first time, Miss Olive, who is my friend and awesome photographer Jules Bianchi's dog. I have heard great things about Olive for some time now, and being that her "mommy" is a photographer I figured Olive would know how to work the camera -- and she sure did! We had the best time and it was great to have Jules jump in a few of the shots, too!

| Jules is great in front of the camera as she is behind it! |

| I love the look on both of their faces! |

| Decorate your walls with art! |
|
 |
I get lots of inquiries from my clients about creating wall art for their homes. One idea is to do a wall collage. It could be your favorite photos from a baby or dog portrait session, engagement session, or wedding day. Look at the sample collages below to get an idea. You can go big and show off 9 images, or you can keep it simple and do 3 across... whatever fits your style. Add simple white mats with your choice of matching frames and you're good to go! One of my favorite places for frames is Pottery Barn, which has a wide selection to choose from. Or do beautiful canvas stretch... my favorite!
Note to Photographers: I got these awesome templates from Design Aglow, which is such a great resource for photographers. When Gene Higa and I were profiled in Design Aglow's West Coast issue, I came across these templates and knew I just had to get them. They're great to help clients visualize how images can work together in a series. Check 'em out! |

Bogie, Gene and I drove down to Half Moon Bay today to go pumpkin picking. We left late and hit lots of traffic, so once we came across this little pumpkin patch alongside the road, we decided to stop and take a few photos before the sun went down. On our way back to the city, we caught a glimpse of the HMB Pumpkin Festival's record breaking pumpkin weighing in at 1524 pounds. That's a lot of pumpkin pie!
